REVIEW : Lufthansa Boeing B747-400, Frankfurt (FRA) - New York (JFK)

Flight Details

13 December 2021 Frankfurt (FRA) - New York (JFK) Departure 11:22 Arrival 13:55 LH400 Boeing B747-400 D-ABVW For this trip I chose Lufthansa, one of the few airlines that still flies the Boeing B747. I did an antigen test the day before the flight with Ecolog (in between the airport and the train station). Their service was excellent, very quick result. Check-in was fast with the self check-in desks. The aircraft I flew on was D-ABVW, the day i flew on it, it had done only 1 return trip to New York before as it was just taken out of long-term storage

Once onboard I made my way to my seat and we were informed of a small delay due to slow loading of the aircraft.

With some delay we left Frankfurt from runway 25C. Once airborne food service began rather quickly.

For starter I chose the Angus beef

The Main course was Goose

I did not try any dessert. Both meals tasted good. I slept through most of the flight.

Before descend I was asked if I'd like to eat something still, I chose the Roast Beef salad. Again it tasted very good.

We started our early descend and landed on 13R in JFK.

After a long taxi around the airport and followed by an hour at the passport control which seems to be the unfortunate standard in any US airport I was on my way to Manhattan... Conclusion I absolutely liked Lufthansa's business class. The B747 is old and the seats aren't state of the art but the food was excellent and cabin crew very friendly.
