HOTEL REVIEW : Beachcomber Paradis, Mauritius

Updated: Jan 29

Stayed a week in April, peak season for the hotel and nearly full due to the school holidays in Europe (Lots of German and French families with kids).

Generally enjoyed our stay although would likely choose another resort if I were to return to the island.

Rooms 5*

Our room was an Ocean Room, don’t be fooled you can’t see the Ocean form them, to see that you need to book OceanFRONT. I knew that in advance thus wasn’t expecting to see much sea, the location of these rooms at the quiet north-side of the resort which we loved.

We had a room on the 1st floor which is nicer as ground floors lack privacy. The rooms are 5 star, looked renovated.

They had good amenities, sufficient towels, soap, tea and water. They also have black out curtains and really good A/C. One thing missing was maybe an iron. They were cleaned well, the cleaning staff is excellent, they are fast and do their job really good. Only downside in the room was the amount of ants everywhere (Night tables-bed-toilet).

In general the rooms are nice thus 5*

Welcome Gift - Honey, Candy and Salt

Staff 3*

Generally friendly but felt many were disconnected from their job. The biggest issue we found was the staff at the restaurants. Nearly every evening it took 15-25min just to get a drink which I find rather long… Im not sure if it’s the staff of just the lack of staff.

Food 5*

Great, buffets were always plenty. Quality generally good and really enjoyed the extensive choice. If you don’t like the buffet theme you can eat a la carte or at Dinarobin next doors.

Very very good Paradis!

Breakfast was served at two restaurants, below you see the smaller one closer by the sea.

We stayed during Easter, the Buffet was slightly bigger for that occasion but still comparable to normal days.

Resort 4*

Main reason why to choose this resort would be the location at Le Morne is beautiful, the beach is amazing and long. The reef protects the beaches and the waves are small. The grounds are well kept and have beautiful greenery.

Two downsides were the reserving of sun beds, every day by 9am 95% of sun beds at the swimming pool had towels without people on them… at the beach around 70% would be already “reserved”, a habit of poor behaviour which the hotel really needs to stop I believe. There are still sun beds available though thus we did always find a bed by the beach. Other downside was occasionally no beach towels available.

Wifi worked fast throughout the whole resort even on the beaches.

Conclusion

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, mainly because of the great food and the nice beach. During holiday periods it’s full of families and not so suitable for couples and honeymooners as it does get noisy, also ground floor rooms would offer limited privacy.

It’s a good 4 star but not even near to 5.
